Support and Education Offered at Inglewood

Education Nights
The Family Advisory Committee hosts regular Education Nights throughout the year on a variety of topics.  These Education Nights invite guest speakers on topics such as palliative care, visiting people with dementia to communication strategies in long term care.  Education sessions are open forum and questions and discussions are encouraged.  The goal of the sessions is to provide helpful strategies to family members along their journey and also to foster connections amongst family members.  Check out our main page  for upcoming sessions.

Support Group
Our Coordinator of Social Services hosts a monthly Family Member Support Group.  This group is offered to family members and friends of residents at Inglewood to provide open forum for discussion and idea sharing.  Some topics open for discussion include:

-          Tips for visiting a person in a care facility

-          Helping your family member through many life changes including facility placement, grief, loss of independence, etc.

-          Dealing with emotional reactions (guilt, stress, frustration)

-          Managing stress of multiple responsibilities

-          Impact of Alzheimer Disease or Dementia on the family

-          How to handle family conflicts.

Check out our main page for upcoming sessions.

Welcome Wine & Cheese

Every quarter, our Management Team hosts a Welcome Wine & Cheese evening for new Residents and their family members.  This informal event provides an opportunity to mingle with others who are new to Inglewood, and also to learn about the care and services provided.  We encourage all family members to attend this event and ask questions of our team.  Our Managers have an open door philosophy and encourage feedback from all Residents and families.
