This compliment is in respect of Tom, Nurses Aide, who is currently working
5 AM to 11 AM on the Hospital first floor. He does an outstanding job. He is
courteous, caring, friendly, knowledgeable, hard working and dependable. He
is certainly a credit to his profession. Phil Webb, (Resident) August

Dear Mrs. Stym: It seems so strange not to be driving up Taylor Way with
the usual regularity afforded to me during summer vacation! My mother was
a resident at Inglewood Manor then Hospital for nearly seven years. My Aunt
May , for almost four years. You played an important role in both their
lives through their varying stages. I have appreciated your "presence" in
Inglewood. Over the years I have appreciated your many kindness, not
only to May and Mother, but also to me. You enabled May to remain in the
Lodge when others might have insisted she move to the hospital. I am so
thankful May didn't end her days there. Unfortunately, mother did --- what a
chock the transition from the Manor to the old hospital was. Those month
were the most difficult for me -- not easy for her either. I was so
relieved when the new wing opened and she was moved! For the majority of the
time I felt very thankful that my mother was in a facility where the quality
of staff and care were of such high calibre. I always felt a relieve to
know that she was in a safe place and that there were people like you and
Cathy, Pam, Ann F., Natalie, Marie France and others who are so kind and
caring ~ even when mother was in her most difficult phases! That must
have been challenging! And the staff certainly rose to the challenge! Over
the years I have been in and out of Inglewood at all times of the day and
night and during my visits I have never heard any words, or tones of voice
or observed any bad language that ever conveyed impatience, sharpness, or in
any way made a resident feel embarrassed or put-down. It would have been
easy to do because dealing with some of the residents' behaviors must have
been very frustrating at times. I witnessed only kindness, compassion,
understanding, gentleness and respect. When you see TV shows like "60
Minutes" doing an exposé on seniors care facilities -- and the hidden
cameras show beating, bullying, yelling, intimidation etc., it causes one to
become wary of all facilities. In Inglewood's' case I always felt that
mother and May were safe and well cared for. This certainly gave me peace of
mind when I would drive the 350 mile route north to Williams Lake! My
heart felt thanks to you and your staff. You make such a positive difference
in so many peoples' lives ~ not only residents but also their families. Keep
up the excellent work! Warmest thanks and appreciation, Marilyn

To Dietary Department: Kaye Sproule came to tell me the Thanksgiving
Dinner was excellent -- best she's ever had. She will be celebrating her
21st year here at Inglewood in November and is very alert with good memories
to recall! Thank you Dietary Department for the great food. August

Dear Cathy: We have heard much about the quality of care and service at
Inglewood Care Centre and now we have experienced it. Thank you very much
for taking the time and trouble to get the dining room organized for our
use for Trevor's Birthday Celebration. It was a very special and meaningful
occasion because Mom was there with us. I was not sure if we were suppose to
put the used dishes in the dishwasher to help with the cleanup. I checked
with a nurse who said to leave everything as is and I hope that this is
alright. Let me know in the future. I can help with the cleaning up! The
dining room table was beautifully set up and our guests were impressed by
the room's elegance and privacy. Whoever set up the table and organized the
coffee and tea tray is to be commended for such an efficient and thorough
job. Thank you again for making it possible for us to have another
treasured memory of a special event with Mom. Yours sincerely,
Andrea & Irvin Sam July 1997

I would like to thank all the nursing staff who have done so much to help
Mom (Dorothy Cliff) maintain her medication schedule in spite of the
frequency of doses at after inconvenient times. She now seems confident that
she will receive her medication as required on all three shifts. I would
also like to acknowledge improvements in the laundry pick up and delivery.
Dirty clothes no longer remain in the bathroom and clean clothes are
returned much more quickly. In addition a supply of towels, wash clothes and
pads seem to be in the bathroom at most times. Thank you. October 1996

To Inglewood Staff: I would like to express my thanks and gratitude to
the Inglewood Care Centre for the care my Aunt, Doreen Hallas, received
during the eight month she was with you. Having had considerable experience
with Care Centers over the years, I am impressed with Inglewood. I
particularly appreciate the Conference held with members of all the parties
involved to ascertain the best care for her and the efforts made to
accommodate Dareen's needs. My thanks to Gloria and Anne and all the
other nurses and other assistants who looked after Dareen. Best regards,

Dear Cathy: Thank you for your letter of February 3 / 97. I must say that
I feel much better about some of my concerns regarding my mother, Mary Berze.
I do appreciate your input. I often feel helpless not being able to be there
for my mother. I only want her to be made as comfortable and kept as happy
as possible. I know she is very lonely but unfortunately I cannot do very
much about that. My sister, Sandy and brother in law Doug Quaree, try to see
her whenever it is possible for them. I try to call her on the
phone frequently. I must thank you once again for your letter, it certainly
eased my mind a lot. Yours truly, Mrs. Irene McDougall
