Dear Jocelyn, Allison and Maria I wish to thank you most sincerely for
making it possible to use Inglewood's Facilities in which my daughters could
hold a party in celebration of my 90th birthday. My thanks to you too for
the part you played in the preparation and planning it took to get it all
humming; even a spot to avoid boredom for the juveniles. I hope you pass
along our family's appreciation of the whole effort. Altogether we had a
great time with about 50 friends and relatives coming from the island,
interior, Manitoba and Saskatchewan. Sincerely, Ken Dale January, 2000 |

Management and Staff Inglewood Care Centre We wish to thank you all for
your kind, caring and hard work in keeping Ken as comfortable as possible
during his long illness. Many times he said to me "There are a lot of
nice people here!" We will be seeing you and then as the scene changes at
"Inglewood", as patients come and go. I must admit I became found of a lot
of them and hope to see them sometimes. We will long remember Ken's
sojourned there with all you good people. Thank you for your card of
condolence! When I get settled, I will see you at the "Sing-Song."
Sincerely, Olive and Ted Meglaughlin |

Dear Jocelyn and Ildiko; It was a pleasure for me to meet you and your
colleagues in the Extended Care Unit when I visited Vancouver recently to
see my mother, Evelyn Elliott. The level of care and ratio of staff to
residents set my mind at rest concerning the well being of Mother. You
asked me if I send a few notes about Mother's life, as that would be helpful
for the staff to know, to have some background information. I have tried to
make the enclosed notes as succinct as possible, I look forward to
bringing my husband in to the Centre when we spend a week in Vancouver at
Christmas. Yours sincerely, Barbara E. Carter, Seaford, UK

To all the staff of Inglewood Hospital, and the volunteers, I would like
to thank you all for your very loving care and all your patience in caring
for my father, Mart Hulscher Unfortunately I am not in the position to be
able to thank you personally. On me last visit to Canada, in September
1999, I often asked my dear dad if he was happy and content, and he always
HEARTILY said: "Yes! I am happy". This gave me piece of mind when I
had to return to Holland. I will miss him very much. Once more, thank
you very much, Maryke Hulscher January, 2000 |

The Residents of the ECU expressed how they enjoyed their Christmas Party
(Dec. 8th, 1999). Comments like, it was the better than last year, the best
ever, etc. They seemed to enjoy the entertainment, if not verbally, but
through smiles. The Residents in ECU seem to enjoy good musical
entertainment more than expensive, fancy food, this years party seems to do
just that. Ildiko, Team Leader December 1999 |

To the Nursing Staff and Support Staff of Inglewood Lodge - Lower Floor:
This extra-special thank-you note sent to you today, holds more
appreciation than any words can say. For you're among the nicest
of any people I have known, and you'll never be forgotten for the
thoughtfulness you've shown.
I wish to thank each and everyone of you for the loving and compassionate
care which you extended to my husband's sister, Bonnie, during her long
residence at Inglewood and especially during her last few days. Over the
years she enjoyed the friendship of many staff members, especially the
"story tellers". She always did like a good joke! You folks lifted her
spirit many times. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your
excellent care and the camaraderie which you shared with her. Sincerely,
Joyce Cassidy & Family Thanks for Everything, Yvonne "Barry" Berg's |

To the Inglewood Team: Dear Mesdames et Messieurs: On behalf on the
Resident Council of this facility I would like to express our thanks for the
fine job you all did for us the day of the Nurses' strike last week. It is
safe to say that no one suffered in any way that day. The meds
(medication) were on time and the usual tasty food, quality and
personal care was as good as ever. With appreciation from us all and in
admiration Residents' Council; Alison Martin, Secretary. June, 1998 |

Dear Friends at Inglewood: I am sitting in my living room still enjoying
the flower arrangement you sent me when Eva was given her promotion to
heaven. She was a real example of someone who really trusted in whom she
had believed - God Himself. I was with her when she passed away; as soon as
she went all I could say was, "thank you, Lord" --- she is enjoying REAL
life now. Of course, I miss her so very much and the apartment is not the
same, but the example she left each one of us who knew her was incredible
---- she never lost her joy, her smile, her concern for others
and above all her devotion at God. Thank you for asking for her
after and for your concern. Lovingly, Sharon McIntosh August,

Inglewood's a Winner Inglewood Care Centre has again picked up awards for
the top fundraising team and oldest participant in the Longest Day walk and
run. Seventeen residents and staff took part in the Alzheimer's Society
fundraising June 21st at UBC's Thunderbird Stadium. Inglewood resident Trudy
Thomas, 96, was the oldest participant. Under team leaders Sue Thompson
and Brenda McEwan, the Care Centre close to doubled last year's fundraising
efforts, raising $ 4,540.00 in pledges this year. Last year's total was $
2,500.00. McEwan said that Alzheimer's awareness is an important cause for
the facility, since about 70% of the Care Centre's residents have some
degree of dementia. --Layne Christensen June 1998 |
