A personal thank-you from a family member

My mom, Vivian Anderson, who died on June 26, was the inspiration behind Inglewood’s proposed Friendship Garden, a safe retreat for those with dementia. When Mom first moved into the Manor over three years ago, she still wanted to go out for her daily walk, but there wasn’t a secure enough garden area then. Someone always had to be with her. And someone wasn’t always available.

When she died, I found great comfort knowing she had many new friends among the staff, family and residents at Inglewood.

I know Mom, too, would be so pleased to know that so many chose to remember her by donating to

the Friendship Garden which will be ready by next summer. She will certainly be there in spirit when it opens next summer.

A FOND FAREWELL TO LISA…

It is with regret that we announce the

resignation of Lisa Feghali, our Social Worker. She is leaving us to return home to Miami, where her family and friends are. Lisa’s sensitivity, her compassion and sense of fun will be greatly missed.

The Inglewood Family/Community Advisory Board
Letter from the Chair……….

Who are we and what do we really do?

Well, for those families new to Inglewood...we thought you might like to know andpen even join us! We are a small group of family members and friends who volunteer our time (about once a month), along with members of the Management and Staff of Inglewood. We meet to advocate on behalf of YOUR loved one living here at Inglewood. Most importantly perhaps.. we try to speak for those Residents who have NO FAMILY and thus NO VOICE, to speak for themselves.

This is a unique undertaking and we like to think that we are a bridge of care, communication and trust, between the ever changing needs and wants of the Inglewood organization and the needs and wants of your family members.

Among other things, we consider; Resident care issues, Resident programs and family concerns, quality and improvement of care, the physical facilities at Inglewood, Community issues and government programs affecting Inglewood Residents, and we provide ongoing education programs and fundraising...if necessary. As you can see, we have much to consider and we are always looking for those extra pair of hands to make the load a little lighter for us all.

We have some changing faces on our Board this year. Bert Schmitt, Elaine Gordon, Phyllis Gaul and Kay Alsop are either stepping down from their positions or taking a well earned break. We thank them so very much for their unbelievable dedication to the concerns of All our families at Inglewood and we know that they are just a phone call away if we should ever need their caring advice.

We would like to welcome Carol Higginbottam (604) 922-3222) and Alice Hutchison (604) 926-3671 who will be heading up the new Board this year. With your help, we wish them a successful year on your Families behalf.

We would also like to thank members of the Inglewood Administration who volunteer their own time...not only to meet with us monthly, but who help us plan and prepare events...education or fun… that we have throughout the year. Thank you all! We know that this is “over and above” and we do value and appreciate your help, support and advice on this ongoing basis.

Now...we would love to her from YOU! We must walk by each other...ever day...It would be great to stop and say, “Hello”. Please give us a call...Alice or Carol...perhaps you may even like to come to a meeting...We would really welcome you.
     Please call us,
     Regards,
     Alice and Carol
