Happy Father's Day

Happy Father’s Day Social
On
Sunday, June 15th at 2:30PM

Join us for refreshments and belly dancing with entertainer “Kim Pechet” Two Father’s Day Gift Baskets will be displayed at the reception desk. The draw will take place at our Father’s Day Social in the Lower Terrace. Tickets can be purchased for $1.00 each from any Recreation Team member, with proceeds going to The Inglewood Residents Council...

TomatoesBarb Henderson, a recreation student from Douglas College, has been working with the residents and families to design and implement a community garden project. She extends an invitation to all visiting family and friends over the summer months to help residents with the watering and weeding of our patio garden…

Thanks Ollie, for the geraniums!

You may have noticed the lovely terracotta pots brimming with geraniums on the Lower and Upper Terrace patios, as well as outside the Manor.

Our thanks go to Ollie Sunell, a frequent visitor to her friend in the Manor. When Ollie decided to move from her lovely West Van home and garden, she offered her geranium planters to Inglewood, as well as hanging baskets-and even a huge bag of peat moss for our gardeners.

We wish you much happiness in your new home, Ollie...

Did You Know?

That while plants can be beneficial to our health by filtering our air, providing us with food, keeping us productive and providing an aesthetically pleasing environment, they can also be potential harmful. Many of most popular houseplants come from tropical climates where the highest percentage of poisonous plants reside. Some toxic plants to be aware of when considering plants for gifts and our gardens are: Chrysanthemums, Kaffir Lilies, Hydrangeas and Azaleas

Inglewood’s Friendship Garden Update

Thanks to our May donors, we have now raised close to $5,000 from families and residents for the Friendship Garden. We’re almost a third of the way there!

With Thanks!

Members of the Upper Terrace would like to recognize two individuals for their kindness and thoughtfulness. First of all, Resident Doreen Thompson and her husband donated a terrific large screen Television with exceptional clarity. The gift will help enhance the enjoyment of life for all living at the Upper Terrace.

CassetteOur second donor was Heather Macdonald, who kindly donated a state of the art CD /cassette, and turntable/ radio unit. Both items are very much appreciated.

Accreditation

Amended Accreditation 2005 Objectives

  1. Identify and confirm standing against CCHSA Aim standards
  2. Remain abreast of the CCHSA accreditation focus and related elements (e.g. population health)
  3. Compare and contrast accreditation results against other long-term care facilities within the Vancouver Coastal Health Region.
  4. Educate staff in the area of workload measurement and related tools.
  5. Evaluate the quality of our organizational structure, programs and services.
  6. Use the accreditation process as an opportunity to review our inter-disciplinary teams and their effectiveness.
  7. Enhance existing stakeholder communication and collaborations and strengthen our relationships with community partners.

An education evening was hosted by the Family and Community Advisory Board on May 28th . The keynote speaker, Ian Woodcock, spoke on the topic of accreditation and its importance to Inglewood.

A first major step in our accreditation planning has been the revitalization of the organization’s mission, vision and values. This has invited input from the ownership, management, staff and other stakeholders. For further information, please contact any member of our management team...
