| Sponsorship is needed! In response to many of the challenges the North Shore faces in maintaining and enhancing programs and services to seniors, the Foundation for Excellence in Seniors Care was established. As you may have read in the previous newsletter, this non-profit organization plans to promote, fund and carry out activities and programs as well as supply equipment in order to meet the needs of seniors in care. In order to fulfill this mandate, the Foundation must raise significant dollars through targeted fund raising ventures. To this end, the first fund raising event for the Foundation is the proposed “Seniors 4-Hour Relay” being held on Saturday September 7 from 12 pm to 4 pm at the Mahon Park in North Vancouver. Official pledge forms can be picked up or faxed from Inglewood Care Centre or any other care facility on the North Shore. Pledges are collected in lump sum payments and cheques made payable to the Foundation. Each participant can be part of Inglewood Care Centre or other Care Centre Team or may form their own team such as the Bridge Club. For every pledge of $25.00 collected for you team, your name will go into a door prize draw (i.e. $100.00=4 chances). Any and all contributions are greatly appreciated and tax receipts are available for pledges of $10.00 or more. There are very few rules for participation. Your level of involvement is your own—running, walking, or pushing a wheelchair around the track. It may be one or 10 laps. Other members of your team will take up the challenge where you leave off—drop in when you have a moment. If you cannot be there in person, sponsor someone else who can. Our Inglewood Team will transport residents to and from the site starting at 1:30 pm until 4 Pm. Entertainment and refreshments will be made available. Names and pledges to be into. For further information call Wilma Atchison, Event Coordinator at 604-913-4732.
