A PLACE TO CALL HOME
Inglewood's beautiful setting, caring staff and secure environment make it a wonderful place to call home. A wide variety of social activities and care services are available to our residents - so you can choose a lifestyle that is right for you.

SELECTING A CARE HOME
Selecting a Care Home for a family member or friend may be a difficult task. It will take considerable time and effort to gather information in order to make the right decision. It is important to find the right home for your loved one. The stay might be a long one and sometimes for the remainder of the person's life. Many aspects have to be investigated such as PHYSICAL APPEAL OF THE FACILITY, ACTIVITIES personal care etc., and also, for some most important - nutrition - THE FOOD Also, you might look for a facility which is "accredited", which means the care home has past strict government guidelines. See ACCREDITATION REPORT  What is a care home?

The term "long term care" (the old terminology - nursing home) may be confusing to some, and misunderstood for a hospital or rest home. Care homes provide several level of care, from Intermediate Care to Extended Care to DEMENTIA CARE (Alzheimer). The difference is the amount of nursing hours required by the resident, which will be assessed on a regular basis. The goal of a care home is to provide a safe, friendly and comfortable environment and to maintain the highest level of physical, mental and social well-being.

Planning:
Plan ahead if you think you'll need a care home in the foreseeable future, for you or a loved one, might be a wise move. Most good care homes have a long waiting list, and the changes for placement may be reduced.
CHECK THE AGREEMENT (resident handbook), and terms and condition of a care home, this will provide you with information on, for example, what personal belongings you can bring or what services are available.

Preparation for transition:
Preparing yourself for the transition to a long care home is important. Such a change will affect the whole family and it will take time to adjust. Some long term care homes have a Social Worker or Nurse Specialist to assist you in adjusting to the change. A loved one may be more comfortable if accompanied by the family on moving day, and frequent visits will help the loved one to adjust better.
