For Family Members
One of the best ways family members and friends can support residents in a care centre is by learning as much as they can – about disease processes, about the health care system, about how to help them along their journey. “Caregivers” are not just the professionals that look after people, but also the family members and friends involved.
Care giving is a journey that can present many challenges along the way and the more informed you are, the better prepared you will be. The nature of care giving is that it can be incredibly rewarding, but it can also be extremely overwhelming, confusing and stressful. With so many changes occurring at once, it can be difficult to navigate the complicated health care system; never mind dealing with what is going on emotionally, for both yourself and the individual you are looking after. This section of the website has been put together by our Coordinator of Social Services and answers many of the questions frequently asked by family members and friends of our residents.
