LEVELS OF CARE:
Inglewood Care Centre operates according to the Quality Assurance Standards of the Ministry of Health of BC. (Definitions taken from the Ministry of Health and Ministry Responsible for Seniors Policy Handbook)
PERSONAL CARE:
Manage own care in the communityINTERMEDIATE CARE LEVEL 1: This level of care recognizes the person who is independently mobile with or without mechanical aids, requires moderate assistance with the activities of daily living, and requires daily professional care and/or supervision. (NB. the above two care levels are provided only in the home or community)
INTERMEDIATE CARE LEVEL 2: This level of care recognizes heavier care and/or supervision requiring additional care time. Such criteria as wandering, impaired comprehension, multiple disabilities or medical problems, incontinence, need of more extensive professional services, may determine the individual to be in this care level.
INTERMEDIATE CARE LEVEL 3:
This level of care recognizes the psycho geriatric person who has severe behavioural problems on a continuing basis. This level may also be used for persons requiring a heavier level of care involving considerably more staff time than at the Intermediate Care 2 Level but who are not eligible for Extended Care.EXTENDED CARE:
This level of care recognizes the person with a severe chronic disability which requires twenty-four hour a day professional nursing services and continuing medical supervision, but does not require all the resources of an acute care hospital.ADDITIONAL CARE PROVIDED AT INGLEWOOD:
SENSITIVE CARE UNIT:
(Upper Terrace) This unit cares for the person with dementia, who requires special approaches and environment. These persons will be at an IC Level 3.PALLIATIVE CARE: (provided throughout the facility) Services or programs that provide care to residents for whom treatment aimed at cure and prolongation of life are no longer appropriate but for whom therapy aimed at improving the quality of remaining life is the primary objective. Care is comfort-oriented, not treatment oriented.
FAMILY COMMUNITY ADVISORY BOARD:
The Family/Community Advisory Board will:

promote the purpose of Inglewood to provide a supportive and caring environment in order to preserve the dignity and enhance the quality of life for people who require long term care from a team of qualified care givers. | ||

support the interests of residents and staff in the operations of Inglewood. | ||
|
|
support the interests of the next of kin and other caregivers and friends of residents to assist in meeting their needs and concerns. | ||
|
|
support the development of excellent relationships between Inglewood and the community, government authorities and agencies. |
T
he membership is made up of representatives from the following groups; family/residents, resident council, pastoral, community and administration.RESIDENT COUNCIL:
The mandate of the resident council is to act as an advocate for the residents and to fund raise for special projects which will enrich the lives of all residents living at Inglewood.
Residents from each unit are elected to the council annually. Meetings are held monthly and minutes are posted in each unit.
