LIVING AT INGLEWOOD
FAMILY INVOLVEMENT / RESPONSIBILITIES:
CARE CONFERENCES:
|
|
purpose is to review the resident’s care level, the care provided, physical and mental condition, changes required in activities of daily living; resident, family and staff are invited to attend. | ||
|
|
held within 6 to 8 weeks of admission, yearly thereafter and whenever there is a change in the resident’s condition |
AVAILABILITY OF NEXT OF KIN:
|
|
it is important that the next of kin
notify Inglewood of any change of phone numbers, addresses or other personal information |
||
|
|
if the next of kin plan to be
unavailable for any reason, we would ask that they designate another person to act in their place in case of emergency |
FEEDBACK:
|
|
family/designate is encouraged to provide feedback to the staff | ||
|
|
feedback forms are available at each nursing station and reception | ||
|
|
personal appointments with the appropriate staff member are also encouraged | ||
|
|
concerns are directed to the nurse in charge first and then to the Director of Care and/or the Administrator |
ACCESS TO RESIDENT FILE:
|
|
the facility complies with the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIPP) and any other legislation requirements which govern the release of information |
CARE GIVING:
|
|
family/designate is encouraged to work with the facility care team in providing actual care or input into care at any time |
EDUCATION EVENINGS:
|
|
organized by the Family Community Advisory Council | |
|
|
provides information for residents
and care givers on subjects related to the relationships with, and the care of family members in the facility |
VISITING:
|
|
Inglewood is considered to be the resident’s home. There are no set visiting hours. | ||
|
|
family and friends are encouraged to visit often and participate in resident’s activities | ||
|
|
front door is locked after 9:00 P.M. ring doorbell after this time | ||
|
|
pets are also welcome, but must be appropriately controlled |
FAMILY RESIDENT / RESPONSIBILITIES:
As in all human societies, individuals have not only rights but also obligations and responsibilities to their fellow residents and to the management of the Facility in which they are receiving care. If a resident is incapable assuming these responsibilities, the family/guardian is expected to do so.

Every resident has the responsibility to observe the rules and regulations of the Facility. | ||
|
|
Every resident has the responsibility to treat his/her fellow residents and employees with courtesy and consideration. | ||
|
|
Every resident has the responsibility to smoke only in designated areas. | ||
|
|
Every resident has the responsibility to participate with promptness in fire and disaster drills. | ||
|
|
Every resident has the responsibility to use with care all supplies, linens and furnishings, just as if they were his/her own. | ||
|
|
Every resident has the responsibility to have all personal electrical appliances checked by maintenance for safety. Any unsafe items will be removed. | ||
|
|
Every resident is responsible for his/her own personal belongings. Repairs to wheelchairs, hearing aids, razors, glasses and dentures are the responsibility of the resident. | ||
|
|
Every resident has the responsibility to provide truthful information to the appropriate facility employees and administration concerning all aspects of his/her mental, physical and financial status, and to keep them informed of any relevant change in these. Staff are not allowed to witness a will or any other legal document | ||
|
|
Residents and family members are not permitted to give gratuities or gifts to staff or to expect staff to participate in the resident’s personal business matters such as cashing cheques or paying bills. Nevertheless, families can show appreciation by making donations to the Celebration Team. This team is comprised of staff members and is responsible for individual and team recognition as well as organizing special events | ||

Every resident has the responsibility to consider that other residents may require more assistance, and more urgently, than his/her. | ||
|
|
Every resident has the responsibility to report promptly anything he/she feels is a safety risk. | ||
|
|
Every resident has the responsibility to give the Team Leader or administrative employees an opportunity to correct a complaint or grievance by speaking to them directly or by using a feed back form. | ||
|
|
Every resident residing in the facility has the responsibility to sign out, in accordance with facility policy, when leaving the unit. This is for his/her own benefit and safety. |
