RESIDENT ACCOMMODATION

The Inglewood complex is divided into two separate units. In 1996, we demolished the original Hospital and completed construction of a new "Multi-Level" care unit (Lower and Upper Terrace) that serves as a home for residents requiring Intermediate Care 3 and/or Extended Care support. This building is situated at the south end of the property adjacent to Taylor Way.

Our Lodge and Manor, serves residents assessed as needing Intermediate Care 2 and/or Intermediate Care 3 level of support although we no longer admit residents assessed as Intermediate Care 2. These buildings are located at the north end of the property and provide a direct view of the North Shore Mountains.

(Please see Appendix 1 for a definition of the various care levels)

RESIDENT ROOMS:

LODGE AND MANOR:   Inglewood Lodge and Manor provide both private and semi-private accommodation. The majority of our 122 private and 10 semi-private rooms have full bathrooms with either a bathtub or wheelchair-accessible shower. Each room is furnished with a Hospital bed, mattress, dresser, desk or end table, individual lighting and a large, cushioned chair. Cable and telephone hook-ups are located in each room. Both the living room and bath room have call buttons/cords to use in case of emergency. Rooms on the first floor (Lodge only) have a sliding door leading to a small patio and outdoor garden.

Ten resident rooms in the intermediate care area are reserved for veterans. There is a separate wait list for veterans.

In order to maintain the painted walls in resident rooms, we ask that tape not be used to hang pictures, etc. Instead, our staff will be happy to hang pictures for you, as it gives them a chance to get to know the new resident on a more personal basis. Just ask at the nursing station and arrangements will be made to assist you.

LOWER/UPPER TERRACE:   The Terrace also provides both private and semi-private accommodation. All 79 single and 7 double rooms enjoy wheelchair accessible two-piece bathrooms and a furniture package that includes a wardrobe, hutch unit with built-in desk, semi-electric or full-electric bed with mattress, bedside table, over bed table and an arm chair. All rooms have air conditioning, cable and telephone hookup. The living area and bathroom have call buttons/cords for use in case of emergency. Our rooms on the first floor have piped in oxygen and a sliding door leading to an outdoor patio and garden area.

PERSONAL ITEMS REGARDING ALL UNITS:  Each new resident is encouraged to bring personal items with them to Inglewood. Living room and /or bedroom accessories such as a radio, television, clock, bedspread, plants, afghans, lamps, pictures, or a small chair always make the resident feel more at home. However, consideration must be given to the space available and to ensuring the safety and comfort of all residents. Any electrical items must be CSA approved and for this reason must be inspected by our maintenance department prior to use by the resident. Unfortunately, due to Fire Regulations, such items as kettles, toasters, irons, electric blankets and electric heating pads are not permitted in the resident’s room.

COMMON AREAS:

LODGE/MANOR:
Lodge:
This central building serves as the main entrance to the entire complex. Our foyer/reception area opens into a large lounge that is used primarily for social gatherings, entertainment, and group activities (television, exercises, bingo, group meetings). A tuck shop is located within the main foyer. The adjoining main dining room looks out onto the front patio. There is one main recreation/activity room on the first floor, and a small recreation room for smaller programs/resident council meetings. The sky lit library on the second floor is used mainly for resident leisure space and family gatherings.

Manor:  From the dining area on the main floor, residents are treated to a wonderful view of Brothers Creek and the North Shore mountains. The main lounge, also with adjacent outdoor patio and the Friendship Garden, is used for socializing, entertainment and various activities.

Located on the first floor is a large activity/recreation room. Exercises, crafts, and indoor gardening are just a few of the scheduled programs.

LOWER/UPPER TERRACE:
Lower Terrace:  The Lower Terrace on the first floor has a large, centrally located, family/dining/activity room. This room is partially carpeted in the lounge area in order to accommodate a variety of different activity and therapy programs. The room has a portable wall that allows for multiple programs to be run at the same time. This area is furnished in a residential style and is complete with piano, fireplace, music, television, fish, and kitchenette. The room opens onto a large patio with outdoor furniture.

Adjacent to this multi-purpose room is our physiotherapy and occupational therapy area where residents receive both individual and group therapy.

Upper Terrace:  The Upper Terrace has three separate family/dining/recreation areas, all opening onto cushioned exterior patios. All three rooms have fireplaces, skylight, a large screen television, music, kitchenette, and a host of recreation material. The largest of the three multi-purpose rooms (located in the centre of the second floor) also has a piano.

ROOM RATES

Our Care Centre is licensed by the Ministry of Health and must adhere to the guidelines outlined in the Community Care and Assisted Living Act, and the Private Hospital Act, Part II. The Ministry sets the rates that all care centres charge their residents, with the per diem (per day) surcharge of $6.00 for a semi-private room and $9.00 for a private room in the Lodge and Manor only.

The Ministry of Health regularly reassesses the fees and increases generally occur when there is an increase in the government pension payments to the residents. You will be notified if and when this happens.

Monthly statements are sent out prior to the end of each month and are due and payable upon receipt. Payments are made by pre-approved payment (PAP); if you need to write a cheque they are to be made payable to Inglewood Care Centre. (Interest will be charged after the 15th of the month, if payment is late.) On admission, the family and resident determine where monthly statements are to be sent.

MOTORIZED WHEELCHAIRS/SCOOTERS

Due to the lack of storage space, motorized scooters are not allowed in any areas of Inglewood Care Centre. Residents utilizing a motorized wheelchair will be charged $30.00 per month on their monthly statement because of damages incurred from this type of wheelchair. Motorized wheelchairs are only permitted on the Lower Terrace
