Human ResourcesStrong emphasis is placed on ensuring the effectiveness of human resources processes. The organization is commended for its focus on staff training and staff satisfaction. Long range human resources planning is appropriately addressed in the strategic planning process. There are processes in place to help ensure that staff are qualified and competent. Orientation and general education programs are comprehensive and effective. Staff education is given high priority and excellent resources are provided in this regard. The English as a second language program and several other upgrading programs are notable examples of this focus on education. In addition, every effort is made to ensure that learning needs related to new and complex resident care needs are identified and addressed. Plans to introduce a performance appraisal process based on the organization's core values are commendable. The Occupational Health and Safety Committee is commended for its diligence and creativity in promoting a safe workplace. It is noteworthy that the committee was restructured to reflect team representation. The active involvement of the physiotherapist in ergonomic reviews and training related to safe work habits is commendable.
