EnvironmentThe organization and the environment management team are commended for providing a well maintained, pleasant, and attractively decorated environment for residents, visitors, and staff. The atmosphere truly embodies gracious living for seniors. The environment Management Team is congratulated on its efforts to identify client needs, the processes that are in place to meet those needs, and some areas where further improvement is possible. The Infection Control Program is noted favorably. Processes are in place to minimize the risk of infections and respond expeditiously to infectious outbreaks. The low rate of infections attests to the effectiveness of the program. The integration with the infection control program at the local hospital is noteworthy. Emergency preparedness plans and related testing and training are given appropriate priority. Annual fire training provides an opportunity for staff to maintain current knowledge and is commendable. Fire systems are in keeping with applicable codes and are tested and maintained on a regular basis. Current revisions to emergency plans which will integrate color coding for various types of emergencies with the local hospital are noted. This Team is commended for undertaking several quality improvement initiatives and for identifying the need for other initiatives, including the exploration of best practices in similar organizations. The team is encouraged to develop its processes for quality monitoring by developing more specific indicators for key processes and outcomes of environmental management.
